Kelly McInnes
Director and Facilitator
Kelly McInnes is grateful to be a settler based on the unceded Coast Salish lands and waters of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations. Kelly dances with the intention of healing and through this works as a choreographer, performer and facilitator. Often multi-disciplinary and site specific, Kelly's work explores the socio-political and invites an attention to sensation. Kelly's choreographic work has been presented throughout B.C., in Toronto and in Mexico. As an interpreter, Kelly has worked for EDAM Dance, MACHiNENOiSY, Restless Productions, Out Innerspace Dance Theatre, 605 collective, LINK Dance, Metal Dog, Chick Snipper, Anne Cooper, Daina Ashbee, Olivia Davies, Sammy Chien, Jacinte Armstrong & Ashley Whitehead. Community-engagement is an important part of her practice. She organizes and facilitates Epoch Youth Project, now in it's 3rd season. Kelly is also currently artist-in-residence with the Roundhouse Community Dancers for the 18-20 season. Kelly is a member of the collective, Pressed Paradise, that focuses on activating public and unconventional spaces with performance alongside Arash Khakpour and Heather Lamoureux. She is also a member of Mutual Futures collective with a focus on the practice and performance of improvisation.
Kelly grew up in the forest where she began her practice as a a listener and daydreamer. She is an introverted extrovert (or extroverted introvert depending on the day) who loves the sound of mundane things, swimming in the ocean, watching videos of animals on youtube and literally anything to do with cats and whales. She often finds herself in awe of the natural world, her friends and the transformative power of creativity and our bodies. (kellymcinnes.com)
Sophia Wolfe

Sophia Wolfe is a Vancouver based contemporary dance artist who also works in visual media including photography, film, and video art. Sophia completed her post secondary dance training in Vancouver through Modus Operandi under the direction of David Raymond and Tiffany Tregarthen. Sophia’s dancing has lead her to tour nationally and internationally with Company 605, Co-Erasga and has more recently worked with with choreographer Chick Snipper and theatre company The Only Animal. Outside of dance performance, Sophia has created and presented video installations through Vancouver's Contemporary Art Gallery mentorship program, and has since shot and edited many short films involving movement of the body. Her deep interest in dance on screen has led her to organize and curate the first ever International Youth Festival Of Recorded Movement that includes international screenings, community engagement, workshops and commissioning youth artists to create new short films.
Sophia loves exploring new ways to record movement and her favourite food is anything involving noodles and soup. When she is not dancing, you can find her running a festival, traveling and snapping photographs with her disposable camera or sleeping. (www.f-o-r-m.ca)
Laura Avery

Laura Avery is a dance artist living on the unceded territories of the Ê·məθkÊ·É™yÌ“É™m (Musqueam), sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and selÌ“ÃlÌ“witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) First Nations. She received her contemporary dance training from Modus Operandi, an education initiative of Out Innerspace Dance Theatre. Since her graduation from the program, Laura has enjoyed working as an interpreter with the response., Justine Chambers, Kelly McInnes, Company 605, Radical System Art, and Out Innerspace Dance Theatre, and has received funding to pursue further professional development in Montréal, Vienna and Berlin. Laura has presented her own work in Vancouver at BoomBox (2017), as part of the New Works Season opener (2017), and as part of The Shooting Gallery Series (2018). Laura holds a BA in English Literature, and is currently pursuing her Masters in Expressive Arts Therapy as a means to further interrogate her creative practice in relation to her commitment to social justice, anti-oppression and community art practices.
Laura is a perpetual student who loves sitting in parks, writing secret poems, and dancing in her living room. When she is not dancing or studying, she can be found doodling, reading, communing with crows, drinking too much coffee, and biking around east van in the rain without proper rain gear. She dreams about the ocean and about queer futures.
Red Fawkes

Red Fawkes (pronouns ze/zer) is an interdisciplinary artist who focuses on themes of queerness, trans issues, and anti-consumerism. Ze is from Ottawa, Ontario and has lived in Vancouver for 2 years.

Red is a fluid soul that enjoys learning from and lifting up other voices, pondering on the nature of vibratory patterns created by instruments, songs, speeches, and word play, as well as writing with freedom in mind. Red can be found meditating anywhere or moving with the flow of life in a non-conformist fashion.
